Are you a seasoned backend engineer passionate about using technology to drive social impact? M-KOPA, a leader in providing affordable solar energy and financial solutions across East Africa, is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Retention Product Group.
In this role, you’ll help build scalable, high-quality backend systems that power our mission of digital and financial inclusion. You’ll work with cutting-edge tech, collaborate with talented teams, and contribute to solutions that improve lives in off-grid communities.
What You’ll Do:
Build & Scale Systems – Develop and maintain robust backend services using microservices, and event-driven architectures.
Own the Full Stack – Take end-to-end ownership of software, from design to deployment and monitoring (DevOps culture).
Ensure Quality – Prioritize automated testing, observability, and monitoring to keep systems reliable.
Collaborate & Mentor – Work in agile teams, share knowledge, and help shape engineering best practices.
Drive Impact – Contribute to tech that enables financial inclusion for underserved communities.
Who We’re Looking For:
