About the Role:
Do you thrive on turning data into actionable insights? Mercy Corps Uganda is seeking a Senior MEL Officer to lead the charge in measuring impact, driving learning, and ensuring accountability for our PEARL Program.
This role is perfect for a detail-oriented problem-solver who loves working with teams to track progress, adapt strategies, and demonstrate real-world change. If you’re passionate about evidence-based programming and want to contribute to meaningful development work, we’d love to hear from you!
What You’ll Do:
Lead MEL Systems – Design tools, track progress, and ensure data quality for impactful decision-making.
Assess & Improve – Coordinate evaluations, identify lessons learned, and recommend program adjustments.
Data Storytelling – Transform numbers into compelling reports for donors, partners, and teams.
Build Capacity – Train staff and partners on MEL best practices and data-driven approaches.
Tech-Savvy Solutions – Manage digital data systems (KoBo/ODK, PowerBI, etc.) for real-time insights.
Safeguarding – Ensure ethical data collection that respects participant dignity and safety.
Who We’re Looking For:
✔ Education: Degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field.
✔ Experience: 5+ years in MEL, preferably in market systems or development programs.
✔ Skills:
- Advanced data analysis & visualization (Excel, PowerBI, etc.).
- Familiarity with mobile data tools (KoBo, ODK, Comcare).
- Strong training & facilitation skills.
✔ Languages: Fluency in English (local languages a plus).
