About the Organisation

The Electoral Commission of Uganda is an independent constitutional body responsible for organizing and overseeing free, fair, and credible elections. Established in 1995, it plays a vital role in strengthening democracy by ensuring all citizens — including marginalized groups — can participate in electoral processes.

What You’ll Do:

Facilitate Clear Communication – Provide real-time interpretation between spoken language and Uganda Sign Language (USL) during meetings, trainings, and electoral activities.
Support Voters & Staff – Assist hearing-impaired individuals in understanding electoral information and processes.
Prepare for Assignments – Review materials in advance to ensure accurate interpretation.
Maintain Confidentiality – Adhere to strict ethical standards for professional interpreters.
Work Across Uganda – Positions available in 12 regions including Kampala, West Nile, Karamoja, and more.

Who We’re Looking For:

✔ Qualification: Diploma in USL Interpretation OR Diploma in any field plus USL certification.
✔ Experience: 2+ years in professional sign language interpretation (social work/development background a plus).
✔ Skills: Fluency in Uganda Sign Language, English, and local languages.
✔ Values: Patient, professional, and committed to inclusion and accessibility.
